I think it would be useful if we had wiktionary-style tables for getting the grammar of a certain word right, given the context. I'll give an example (using the old standard noun/adjective I learnt in Faroese, boat/big respectively)

Noun: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/b%C3%A1tur

Adjective: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/st%C3%B3rur

I think it actually very easy to make up a sentence in another language if you know how to use the grammar and you have a table like that for the words you want to use. Eventually, after you've used it enough, you don't even need the tables.

A very good idea indeed! I have already begun making tables like this for the animal words we have been coining... aswell as some original Norse ones found in Zoëga. (I'm making vocabulary lists of words in regard to various topics... animals seemed to be a good one to start with as it deals with simple nouns. Smile )

I do think it would be fantastic if we could make a New Old Norse wiki, based on wiktionary. But only dealing with English, Old Norse and perhaps Icelandic/Faroese and Norwegian, and any languages that have given words to Old Norse. Very Happy
Proto-Germanic of course... maybe Old English aswell.

There are actually some Old Norse ones already up on wiktionary, including the actually tables ('bátr' for example Wink ). I doubt there are too many though. "Fagr", for example, has no table, just comparative/superlative and its conjugates in other Scandinavian languages.
