To make things easier to reference, our forum will now try to utilise a simple code.
Instead of having to write "A Concise Dictionary of Old Icelandic" by Geir T. Zoëga we will just refer to the source as just "Zoëga".
Instead of "Cleasby and Vigfusson" we can refer to it as "Cleavig".
Instead of "An Introduction to Old Norse" by E.V.Gordon, we can refer to it as "Gordon".
"A New Introduction to Old Norse: Part I, II or III" from University College London, we can say "UCL I", "UCL II" or "UCL III"
And the following abbreviations should be adopted...
Dan for Danish
Swe for Swedish
Nor for Norwegian
NN for Norwegian Nynorsk
NB for Norwegian Bokmål
Far for Faroese
Ice for Icelandic
OIce for Old Icelandic
ON for Old Norse
NON for New Old Norse (the modernised variant this project is creating... for example... vagn in ON means "wagon", in NON it means "wagon" and "automobile" and "vehicle". And "myndbandskringla" meaning "DVD" is a NON word, and not an ON word, since you will not find it in a dictionary.)
OE for Old English
ME for Middle English
Dut for Dutch
Ger for German
Got for Gothic
OHG for Old High German
PGer for Proto-Germanic
Þakka!
